Homeowner FAQ.
Straight answers, no sales pitch. If your question isn't here, call us. A real person will answer it.
Emergencies
Do you really answer 24/7?
Yes. A Denver-based dispatcher answers nights, weekends, and holidays, and emergency visits never carry overtime rates.
My furnace is out. What should I check before you arrive?
Make sure the thermostat is set to Heat and above room temperature, the furnace switch (looks like a light switch near the unit) is on, the breaker is not tripped, and the filter is not clogged. If you smell gas, leave the house and call your gas utility first.
How fast can you get to me?
Same day across the Denver metro. No-heat and no-cooling calls during extreme weather are prioritized and usually reached within a few hours.
Pricing
How does transparent pricing work?
After diagnosing the problem we give you a written, flat-rate quote before any work starts. The price you approve is the price you pay.
Is there a diagnostic fee?
Yes, a flat fee that covers the trip and a full diagnosis. If you go ahead with the repair, the fee is credited toward it.
What forms of payment do you accept?
All of them: cash, check, Visa, Mastercard, American Express, Discover, Apple Pay, Google Pay, Zelle, Venmo, and financing through our lending partner. You can pay the technician on site or from the invoice link.
Do you offer financing?
Yes, through a lending partner with approval in minutes and options including low monthly payments and promotional-rate plans. We also help you claim Xcel Energy rebates and Colorado heat pump tax credits.
Equipment
Should I repair or replace my furnace or AC?
If a repair will give you several more reliable years at a fair cost, we recommend the repair. We only suggest replacement when the math or safety clearly favors it, and we show you both options.
Which brands do you work on?
All of them. Lennox, Trane, Carrier, Bryant, Rheem, Ruud, Goodman, Amana, American Standard, York, Daikin, Mitsubishi, Fujitsu, Bosch, Navien, Rinnai, and every other brand you will find in a Denver home. If it heats or cools a house, we service it.
What do you install?
Furnaces (including Low-NOx and 96%+ high-efficiency models), air conditioners, cold-climate heat pumps, ductless mini splits, boilers, humidifiers, air purifiers, and smart thermostats. Xcel Energy rebates are available on qualifying equipment and we file them for you.
Do heat pumps work in Colorado winters?
Modern cold-climate heat pumps hold full capacity to about 5°F and keep running below zero. Most Denver homeowners pair one with their existing furnace as a dual-fuel system for the coldest nights.
How often should I change my filter?
Every 60 to 90 days for a 1-inch filter, every 6 to 12 months for a 4-inch media filter. During wildfire smoke season, check it monthly.
Service
What areas do you cover?
The greater Denver metro, from Golden to Aurora and Castle Rock to Thornton: Denver, Lakewood, Aurora, Englewood, Littleton, Arvada, Westminster, Thornton, Centennial, Highlands Ranch, Wheat Ridge, Golden, and Castle Rock.
Are you licensed and insured?
Yes. Duality Heating and Air is a Colorado LLC that is licensed, bonded, and insured. Every technician is NATE-certified, EPA 608 certified, and background-checked. You get a text with your tech's name and photo before they arrive.
Do you pull permits?
Yes, on every installation. We schedule the inspection and register your manufacturer warranty so it is valid from day one.
