Builders often run one system for two floors. Zoning adds dampers and a second thermostat so upstairs and downstairs each get what they need, without a second furnace.

Does the elevation change what you recommend?
At 6,200 feet, yes. Furnaces are derated and AC capacity is a little lower, so we size from a real load calculation instead of square footage.
