If the unit is under 12 years old and the repair is less than a third of replacement cost, we almost always recommend the repair. Past 15 years, or with a cracked heat exchanger, replacement is the safe and cheaper long-term call. We show you both numbers.
Does altitude really matter for a furnace?
Yes. At 5,280 feet a gas furnace has to be derated roughly 4% per 1,000 feet, and many installers skip it. An un-derated furnace short-cycles, sooths up, and dies early. We set every unit up for Denver specifically.
